Under general direction of the Superintendent, responsible for planning, installing, and maintenance of the wastewater treatment facility’s equipment. - Plan, lay out, install, and repair plant equipment including: pumps, piping, HVAC, and other pneumatic or hydraulic equipment.
- Inspect, maintain, and repair equipment and assist in repairs of electrical or electronic equipment.
- Responsible for a systematic preventative maintenance program for the plant equipment and proper recordkeeping.
- Order parts and keep parts inventory up to date.
- Review maintenance records and project trends in the maintenance requirements of equipment.
- Recommend system improvements to ensure reliable system operation.
- Enforce and comply with all applicable safety standards and procedures.
- May oversee the work of others assisting in the performance of the assigned tasks.
- Teach other employees related skills and procedures necessary in the operation and maintenance of the plant.
- Perform operator duties and standby duties as required and may work shifts and weekends.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- A combination of education and at least three years recent, relevant experience in industrial equipment maintenance required.
- Advanced knowledge of fuel systems, ignition systems, and testing and diagnostic work required.
- Considerable knowledge of methods, practices, materials, and tools related to the trades necessary to maintain and repair mechanical equipment, such as pumps, compressors, valves, electrical motors, controls, generators, and similar equipment.
- Ability to understand and follow oral or written instructions and the ability to comprehend blueprints, shop drawings, or sketches, and to work from these drawings.
- Ability to work well with others, including occasionally leading projects.
- Ability to plan and lay out work so as to be understandable and clear.
- Ability to keep records and make reports.
- Thorough knowledge of occupational hazards, safe work practices necessary for the safe performance of the assigned work.
- A high sense of responsibility and initiative to work independently without supervision and to work from oral and written instructions.
- Basic knowledge of mathematical principles.
