Summer Day Camp Leader – (Seasonal/Part Time)

General nature of work: Under direction of the Recreation Programmer. The Summer Camp Day Leader will assist in the planning, initiation, organization, and operation of the Summer Day Camp program.

This is a part-time/season position with an hourly rate of $13.00 and averages 20-25 hours per week.

1. Inventory and regulate use of equipment and supplies.

2. Enforce Day Camp rules, regulations and policies as established by the Department.

3. Assist with daily maintenance, site preparation and upkeep of assigned Day Camp site, equipment, and supplies.

4. Keep daily /weekly records on attendance, accident/injury, disciplinary action, etc.

5. Instruct activities: i.e. arts and crafts.

6. Plan, organize, supervise, and conduct daily camp activities and programs and projects. Have new and innovative ideas for programming.

7. Prepare and submit a written evaluation of the Day Camp program in relation to activities, staff, facilities, equipment, publicity, problem areas and supplies following the conclusion of the final session.

8. Do related duties and/or assignments as required.

Necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities:

· Knowledge of recreational programming and activities and the ability to plan, coordinate, and direct same.

· Possess the ability to work with, direct, and relate to children in a leadership capacity.

· A qualified leader would possess qualities of patience, dedication, leadership, and creativity.

Desirable education, training, and experience:

· Must be 16 years of age or older to apply for this position.

· The person must be competent in organizing and conducting Day Camp programs and activities; and have a working knowledge of camp activities, crafts, sports, games, aquatics and basic first aid.

· Training and/or experience in the fields of education, arts, recreation, sports, or children’s programming is preferred.

· Must pass a background check, physical and drug screen.

· Valid TN Driver License
