DESCRIPTION
Shoreview, Minnesota, a premier city in the north metro area of the twin cities, is seeking a dynamic and energetic individual to fill the role of Special Events Coordinator. This position plays a key role in supporting the operations of special and community events within the Parks and Recreation Department. The Special Events Coordinator will work closely with the Recreation Program Supervisor to plan, organize, and execute events, ensuring their success. Key responsibilities include delivering exceptional customer service, collaborating with participants and vendors, and providing on-site leadership to event staff.
DUTIES INCLUDE
- On-Site Event Management:
- Provides work direction to special event staff
- Addresses and resolves on-site challenges promptly
- Troubleshoots and makes adjustments as needed to ensure seamless event execution
- Event Timeline Development:
- Assists in creating detailed event timelines to ensure timely completion of all tasks
- Vendor and Entertainment Coordination:
- Researches, contacts, and coordinates with vendors and entertainment providers
- Event Logistics:
- Oversees event logistics, including coordinating equipment, materials, and transportation
- Performs other duties and special projects as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1 year of customer service experience
- 6 months of experience planning and executing events
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to lift and move 25 pounds
Desired Qualifications:
- 6 months of supervisory experience
OTHER
Hours
Special Events:
- One or two events each month (typically on Fridays or Saturdays) and
- 1-3 hours per week for event preparation
- Tuesdays: 12:30 – 8 pm (June-Aug) and 12:30 – 7 pm (Sept-Oct)
- Possible office hours on Mondays
- Attendance at the market every Tuesday from 3 – 7 pm is required

SUPERVISION OF OTHERS: None. Will provide work direction in the absence of the Recreation Program Supervisor.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The work is performed indoors and outdoors. Employee is frequently required to kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, stand, walk, lift, push, talk, hear and use repetitive motion of the hands, wrists and/or fingers. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 25 pounds of force frequently.
