This key role supports the city’s external communications efforts by driving engagement and managing content across multiple social media platforms. This part-time position is key to supporting external city-wide communications efforts. This position will primarily be responsible for creating and scheduling content across the city’s three social media pages.
- Updates and maintains editorial calendar for the city's three social media pages.
- Gathers and analyzes data from social media channels and website.
- Monitors and responds to website and social media inquiries, complaints, and comments.
- Designs and creates content for digital communications.
- Updates information on channel 16, electronic display boards, billboards, and building monitors.
- Researches and recommends social media strategy best practices that support the city’s mission, vision, and values, as well as our communications strategic plan.
- Other duties and special projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate degree in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing or closely related field.
- 1 - 2 years experience managing and creating content for social media platforms.
- 1 - 2 years paid experience with Adobe Creative Suite.
- 1 - 2 years paid experience with Google Workspace.
- Valid driver’s license and satisfactory motor vehicle report.
Desired Qualifications:
- Additional experience with Adobe Creative Suite.
- Experience with website programs.
- Experience creating graphics.
- Experience in city or county government setting.
- Experience with basic video production and photography.
- Knowledge of plain language practices.
Hours: 25 hours/week: option of working 4 days/week (must include Mondays and Thursdays) or 5 days/week. This position is eligible to work remotely one day per week.
Wage Range: $29.36 - $32.37 per hour DOQ. This position is eligible for partial benefits.Deadline: Open until filled with first consideration given to applications received by Tuesday, February 4, 2025.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Employee is frequently required to sit, talk, listen and hear; continuously use hands/fingers dexterously; and on occasion reach with hands and arms, stand, walk, stoop, kneel and/or crouch in the performance of the job. Exerting up to 10 lbs. pounds of force periodically and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Duties of the job are primarily administrative in nature performed in an office environment. The physical and environmental hazards and risks associated with the job can be characterized as minimal.
