Description
This position involves actively working with groups of children ages 5-12 during summer break. Hours for the position will be 7 a.m. - 1 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
This position will only run during summer break with additional time for training before summer starts. (Training hours will be Monday - Thursday late afternoon). Estimated timeframe for position is late April/early May through July. Final dates will be discussed during the hiring process. Work environment can be high energy
GENERAL PURPOSE:
Responsible for the support of daily program operations, assist in conducting activities, perform customer service, and compile simple reports. Incumbents are part-time employees.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
Works under the supervision of a Recreation Coordinator
SUPERVISION EXERCISED:
Job has no responsibility for the direction or supervision of other employees
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

- Assists in programming of monthly curriculum for Summer Play Days program events
- Supervises activities of children during recreational trips or tours done during after school program
- Knowledge of daily facility operation and programs
- Effectively communicates problems and/or concerns about recreational facilities, activities, and/or participants to immediate supervisor
- Ensure city policies, procedures, and rules and regulations are strictly enforced
- Maintains regular attendance and punctuality
Participates in the accomplishment of organizational, departmental and workgroup goals and objectives. Exhibits a high-level service orientation toward customers and maintains productive working relationships
Performs other duties of a similar nature or level as assigned

Serves on various employee or other committees as assigned
Desired Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- Six (6) months recreation experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
- Must be at least 15 years of age.
- Basic knowledge of office practices, cash handling, record keeping methods and procedures, and rules and regulations
- Skill in customer service, computer software applications and first aid
- Ability to work safely, handle cash, perform basic bookkeeping, maintain a safe environment, communicate effectively verbally and in writing; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other departments and the public; ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions in an on the job-training setting.

Motorized vehicles and equipment, mobile radio, sports equipment, fitness equipment, audio visual equipment, phone, general office equipment and computers.
Part time employees will accrue one hour of paid sick leave for every (30) thirty hours worked. No other benefits will be offered to part time employees
