What are the responsibilities and job description for the TRAFFIC CONTROLLER II position at City of Shreveport, LA?
Class Title
The Traffic Controller II serves as a senior member of a two (2) person crew that rides in and works from a city vehicle with two-way radio and flashing light.
Duties
1. Work activities include analyzing, speaking-signaling, and precision work; creating and maintaining record of work activity.
2. Operates hand-operated pole driver, "twister and puller" instrument, portable washing machine and hand tools to install, straighten, repair, replace and clean traffic signs.
3. Obtains permission from property owners to trim foliage causing possible traffic hazards.
4. Oversees and paints curbs with spray gun and hand paint brush.
5. Assist in setting up barricades for work zones and special events.
6. Uses silk screen method, spray gun, cutting plotter, engravers and hand brush, as applicable, to paint and create traffic and street signs.
7. Must be able to use drafting instruments, draw numbers and letters, and cut them to prescribed size for affixing to signs.
8. Performs other duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications
1). High School Diploma or GED or the equivalent.
2). Must possess a valid vehicle operator's license.
3). Demonstrated leadership qualities and ability to perform assigned tasks.
4). Physical stamina; manual dexterity; eye-hand-foot coordination; spatial and form, perception; ability and willingness to follow instructions.
5). Preferred (2) two years experience as Traffic Controller I.
6). Ability to acquire, during working test (probationary) period, working knowledge of the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) issued by the U.S. Department if Transportation, Federal Highways Commission.
2. Hand motions include grasping and turning. Requires the senses of touch, seeing, hearing, and speaking, all of which may be performed under difficult physical conditions. 3. Requires color, sound, depth and visual perception and discrimination.

2. As required, may be assigned to work overtime, weekends, and holidays. Work includes periodic standby duty assignments.
Travel:
Travel will be required locally from location to location to accomplish job assignments and visit job sites.
