What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Specialist II position at City of Shreveport?
Plants/Sewer Lift assignment will perform preventive maintenance on all assigned equipment; perform reactive maintenance as required; pick up equipment parts from vendors; install, repair or replace functional parts and components; routinely inspect plant equipment and facilities; wash down and clean out basins as required; add grease and oil to pumps; replace air filters; operate radio; complete work orders and basic forms; perform and maintain housekeeping standards; understand basic electrical safety; operate forklift, weed-eater, and tractor/bush hog; repair fences and wooden structures; perform basic water analysis on an as needed basis.
May oversee the flushing and sampling of source water and potable water for compliance monitoring or customer complaints; performs field water analysis as needed, performs customer relations and notification site visits.
All Maintenance Specialist II's will be able to perform any task required of a Maintenance Specialist I employee and may be called upon to do so as required.

Maintains job safety standards (personal protection equipment, etc.); complies with City of Shreveport vehicle safety rules; trains new team members on safe work practices. Regularly attends required safety, job related and certification training classes as required. Subject to be on call 24/7.Performs other duties as assigned or required.
1). High School Diploma or GED.
2). Valid State Vehicle Operator's License with class applicable to assigned position.
3). Three years experience as a Maintenance Specialist I or related field.
Amiss Plant assignment - Hold or be able to obtain Class 2 Water Production, Water Treatment and Water Distribution Certificates issued by the State of Louisiana, Dept. of Health and Hospitals within 3 years.
Normal Promotion Path from this Class:
Maintenance Specialist III or any higher class for which eligible and qualified
Physical Requirements: Position may require moderate to extensive stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions, along with some combination of climbing and balancing; may be subject to sitting for prolonged periods of time at a keyboard or workstation. Position requires abilities to consistently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, 50 pounds frequently and 100 pounds occasionally.
Work Environment: Work is performed outdoors with exposure to noise, dirt, grease, dust, pollen, odors, wetness, fumes, animals, insects, chemicals, treated/untreated sewer, treated/untreated water, inclement weather, and machinery with moving parts requiring use of protective devices.
