Assigns work and supervises ground crews in all aspects of grounds and turf maintenance.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
1. Performs skilled precision work while also supervising and coordinating activities of skilled, semi-skilled, and/or unskilled workers in the daily use of appropriate tools to weed, prune, water, spray, fertilize, plant, remove litter, and mow public rights-of-way, parks cemeteries and golf courses.2. Plans and implements daily work schedules, training and safety programs, policies and procedures, work changes and corrective actions. 3. Requests tools, equipment, and supplies; submits work reports. 4. Assists with budget estimates. 5. Screens applications, interview job applicants and recommends new hires, promotions, pay raises and other personnel actions. 6. Performs other duties as assigned or required.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Physical Requirements: 1. Occasionally requires exerting up to 50 pounds of force, frequently requires exerting up to 20 pounds of force, and/or consistently moving 10 pounds of force to move objects.2. May also be required to lift more than 50 pounds with proper assistance.Work Environment: 1. Work is performed outdoors with exposure to noise, chemicals, inclement weather, dirt, grease, dust, and machinery with moving parts.2. Will be required to wear protective devices at times. Travel: Travel will be required to accomplish assignments and visit job sites.Career Progression: Any higher class or level for which eligible and qualified.
