City of Sierra Vista Fire & Medical Services is conducting recruitment for the position of Paramedic. Testing for this position will be scheduled on an as needed basis according to department needs.
Testing for the position of Paramedic is conducted through the City of Sierra Vista and may consist of a written test, physical fitness evaluation and / or oral interview.
Definition & Essential Functions :
Under general supervision, performs a variety of Advanced Life Support emergency medical services (EMS) duties, primarily while responding to 911 emergency responses, and non-emergency local transports throughout the City of Sierra Vista and Fort Huachuca.
City Crew - typically works a 48 hours on, 120 hours off schedule. Any hour worked over 40 in a week is overtime.
Fort Huachuca Crew - typically rotates with city crews, but will also work a 48 hours on, 120 hours off schedule, or a 40 on, 120 off at Black Tower station. Any hour worked over 40 in a week is overtime
FLSA status : Non-Exempt.

Tasks
- Performs general maintenance of fire and EMS stations along with other crew members
- Checks tools, equipment, supplies, and materials of each ambulance to ensure that all are in proper operating condition
- Responds to structure fires, hazardous materials, or special rescue incidents as medical provider
- Performs a variety of emergency medical activities at fire, accident, hazardous material, or other emergency situations as a certified emergency paramedic
- Initiates pre-hospital medical care to individuals
- Provides basic and advanced life support at emergency scenes
- Participates in public education / information events, such as station tours or group presentations
- Participates in regular training / drills

Vacation Employees earn twelve vacation days per year, available for use after six months, with increases to accrual rates in five-year service increments.
