Definition & Essential Functions
SCHEDULED WORK HOURS ARE: Monday Through Saturday as needed for 19.5 hours weekly.

with CDL $15.45
Under general supervision, performs a variety of semi-skilled and unskilled tasks to provide the collection, disposal and diversion of solid waste within the community. FLSA status: Non-Exempt.
Tasks
Performs a wide array of tasks that support refuse collection and disposal and diversion services to supplement the general mission of providing a clean, healthy and environmentally friendly community. Safely, effectively and efficiently operates a variety of heavy equipment on a limited basis to include, but is not limited to a backhoe, loader, wood grinder, trommel screen, windrow turner/tractor, water truck, and forklift. Operates an automated or manual refuse collection vehicle on a continual basis. Performs daily inspections, basic preventative maintenance, and maintain cleanliness of vehicles and equipment to include operating steam-cleaning equipment.

Knowledge of:
Daily routes and procedures for special pick-ups.
City policies and procedures for the collection, disposal and diversion of solid waste.
Safe Driving practices
Skill in:
The continual safe, effective and efficient operation of a variety of commercial equipment.
Operation and maintenance of various tools and equipment
Using tact in dealing with customer concerns and questions.
Identifying hazardous materials.
Performing manual labor in adverse weather conditions, including but not limited to, lifting and carrying bulky items.
Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with City staff and the general public.
Skill and ability to lead a crew of inmate laborers.
Ability to:
Effectively and responsibly perform job-duties with general supervision.
Effectively drive and manage a collection route in a safe and timely manner
Lift heavy objects up to 50lbs. and perform strenuous work.
Follow oral and written instructions.
Posses and maintain a valid Fort Huachuca military installation access-pass.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED.
A current Arizona Driver's License or ability to obtain upon hire.
Must possess a Commercial driver's license (CDL), minimum of a Class "B", with medical certification or ability to obtain within 3 months of hire.
Preferred one (1) year experience in operating trucks and/or heavy equipment
Five (5) year driving history record required.
Posses and maintain a valid Fort Huachuca military installation access-pass.
Must be able to pass an Arizona Department of Transportation approved physical before start date
