What are the responsibilities and job description for the PART-TIME MAINTENANCE WORKER -PARKS/SPORTS FIELDS position at City of Sierra Vista?
Under general supervision, performs routine Park Facilities, Sports Fields and Building Grounds maintenance work. FLSA status: Non-Exempt.

Park Facilities tasks include, but are not limited to, cleaning public restrooms, trash control, assisting with event setup/cleanup and other special projects.
General Landscaping tasks include, but are not limited to, pruning trees and shrubs, mowing, raking and removing branches, leaves, and trimmings; trash control, weed control with string trimmers, and raking out decomposed granite areas. Assisting with irrigation repairs, turf aerating, over seeding, topdressing and fertilizing operations.
Sports Field tasks include, but are not limited to, lining, dragging and other baseball/softball field prep, trash control, assisting with fencing, bleacher and backstop installation and repairs; base/plate/anchor installation and other Sports Field maintenance and set-up operations.
General tasks include assisting with construction work, including pouring concrete, framing, painting, plumbing, roofing, and paving blocks.
Position is subject to weekend work and emergency callouts.
Knowledge of:
Occupational hazards and appropriate safety practices to apply and enforce.
The general principles, practices, methods, and materials used in Sports Field
and Building Grounds landscape maintenance and repair work. Basic
knowledge of equipment and machinery operation and maintenance.
Skill in:
Operating vehicles, mechanical equipment.
Following and carrying out oral and written instructions.
Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with City staff
and the general public.
Operating and maintaining assigned power tools and equipment, such as
chainsaws, weed string trimmers, edger's back pack blowers, tree saws and
pruning equipment.
Working outdoors in all weather conditions while performing vigorous physical
activities.
Able to lift heavy objects up to 50 pounds and perform strenuous work.
