Under general supervision, performs a variety of skilled, semi-skilled and unskilled tasks in the operation of the water recharge facility, sewer collection system, and water distribution system.

- Responsible for the operation, maintenance and servicing of Water, Wastewater or Collection system equipment.
- Operate high pressure cleaning and vacuuming equipment in a safe manner while performing maintenance on sewer lines.
- Operate and maintain CCTV equipment. Record information into a maintenance management database along with supporting documentation such as videos, sketches or pictures of work performed.
- Maintain easement access by cutting and removing weeds and grass throughout the Collection System.
- Perform basic maintenance and troubleshooting on heavy equipment, wastewater equipment, pump station equipment, water wells, water distribution and wastewater collection infrastructure.
- Identify and mark sewer lines in accordance with the Arizona 811 formerly the Arizona Blue Stake program.
- Inspect collection system infrastructure, maintain records of inspections, cleaning, and any maintenance performed.
- Provide wastewater treatment plant process control support such as: taking samples, assisting in performing lab tests, cleaning tanks and equipment as well as troubleshooting problems.
- Clean and maintain process basins and tanks, sludge press, wet wells, septic receiving station, water storage tanks, heavy equipment, and storage areas.
- May be required to operate heavy equipment.
- Maintain a logbook, records daily observations, within the wastewater facility, collection, or distribution systems.
- Perform preventive maintenance on equipment and records work performed on maintenance management log sheets.
- Efficiently and effectively starts and stops a variety of electrical and mechanical equipment to include bar screens, aerators, clarifiers, and pumps.
- Assist water and wastewater operations by taking meter readings, inspecting, and repairing backflow valves, installing water lines, and the inspection of new collection system construction.
- Monitor contractor's work and ensures their performance meets outlined criteria for repair.
- Perform landscape maintenance and repair fence lines.
- Assist in spraying pesticide to control roach population in sewer system.
- Assist in spraying larvicides on wetland plants and herbicide around structures.

Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required. Non-Arizona equivalent certificates must receive reciprocity within 6 months of hire or promotion.
One (1) year experience in operation and maintenance of a wastewater facility, collection system or water system preferred.
Within six (6) months of hire, must obtain Class B CDL AND ADEQ Grade I Certificate in either Wastewater Treatment OR Collections.
Within twelve (12) months of hire, must possess ADEQ Grade I Certificates in BOTH Wastewater AND Collections.
Within twenty-four (24) months, must possess ADEQ Grade II Certificates in BOTH Wastewater AND Collections.
Non-Arizona equivalent certificates must receive reciprocity within 6 months of hire.
