Summary
Under the supervision of the Recreation Coordinator, the incumbent is responsible for the daily operations of the Family Aquatic Center, including all pools and slides, dressing room facilities, offices and storage space, and pool equipment. The work includes supervision and training of a large staff, promotion and implementation programs, public relations, and daily facility maintenance.

This position indirectly supervises seasonal employees and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the City’s policies and applicable laws.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS (if required)
30-40 Hours including weekends

The work includes supervision and training of a large staff, promotion and implementation programs, public relations, and daily facility maintenance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: (Other duties may be assigned as needed)
- Supervise the activities in and around the pool to insure policies, rules and regulations are observed.
- Manage swim lessons for beginning through advanced skill levels.
- Handle and promptly report any problems that may arise. Problems may include public relations, staff relations, and facility or equipment needs.
- Complete Incident and Suspension Report forms for patrons who have received multiple warnings.
- Complete Release from Responsibility form for patrons who refuse transportation by ambulance to a medical facility.
- Maintain staff schedule, including staffing for swim lessons, daily pool needs, and special parties.
- Ensure cleanliness of facility, proper chemical content in pool, proper care of equipment and timely requisition of supplies.
- Conduct continuing education on the latest techniques of pool rescue and safety for all pool personnel.

Qualifications

- Must be at least 18 years of age. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Three years directly related aquatic experience.
- Considerable knowledge in planning, organizing, and implementing aquatics programs.
- Working knowledge of swimming pool filters, mechanical systems and the use of chemicals for swimming pool and water chemistry.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS (if required)
- Valid drivers’ license
- First Aid Certification
- CPR for the Professional Rescuer
- Lifeguard Certification
30-40 Hours including weekends
