What are the responsibilities and job description for the Parks & Recreation Attendant (Seasonal) (Cone Park) position at City of Sioux City?
The City of Sioux City is seeking (15) fifteen very energetic Parks & Recreation Attendants to provide primary customer service in our Parks & Recreation Department. Cone Park Attendants are in constant interaction with the public.
Successful candidates will primarily be responsible for the safety of the tubing hill by monitoring the top and bottom of the lanes, work inside the lodge to prepare food and drinks, run the cash register, and give out rental equipment. This position performs other related manual tasks. The position stores & prepares food products that meet all local & state health code requirements & facility guidelines.
Employees in this position are expected to maintain regular and punctual attendance.
Employees must be willing to work evening/weekend hours; hours may change day to day. Work hours will be a minimum of 12 hours per week.

- Provides primary customer service and acts as resource person in the facility.
- Works with community to promote understanding of the facility and goodwill toward the facility.
- Works with the public and coordinates public and private-party participants.
- Coordinates general traffic in the facility and may erect traffic barricades.
- Sets up and tears down chairs, tables and recreational equipment.
- Performs basic cleaning and maintenance of facility, restrooms; trash removal, dry & wet mop, snow removal/salting, and litter patrol.
- Cleans, re-stocks and maintains floors and rugs using appropriate machinery.
- Makes light repairs to equipment, maintains glass and does painting as required. Acts as resource person in the facility.
- Becomes belay-qualified to belay and coordinates the climbing wall participants, if applicable.
- Stores, prepares, and serves food products and refreshments in a manner that meets all local and state health code requirements as well as facility rules and guidelines.
- Performs other related manual tasks in the operation and maintenance of the Parks and Recreation properties.
- Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with officials, other agencies, fellow employees, and the general public.
- Maintains good public relations through courteous and prompt attention to all citizen requests for services.
- Maintains regular and punctual attendance and working hours.
- Regularly lifts up to 10 pounds and occasionally lifts up to 30 pounds.
- Expected to temporarily perform duties outside of normal classification in the event of a declared emergency. In the event that an employee is excused from work other than being sick, they will be required to report to work in a state of declared emergency.
Must be 15 years of age by employment start date or 18 years of age or older to serve alcohol by employment start date.
