What are the responsibilities and job description for the Ascend Intern - Urban Forestry position at City of Sioux Falls?
Job Summary
Assist with urban forest management activities, such as inventory updates, marking trees for removal, coordinating with homeowners, and performing site inspections.
Assist with outreach pertaining to Emerald Ash Borer (EAB), tree planting, and urban forest management.
Work closely with City of Sioux Falls contractors removing street trees to monitor progress and inspect work for quality assurance.
Assist with the City of Sioux Falls planting permit program performing initial site inspections and re-inspecting planted sites.
Review the city’s forestry website to provide opportunities for increased communication efficiencies and avenues.
Submitted applications will be actively reviewed and this position will be filled as the hiring authority sees fit.
Minimum Qualifications
Students enrolled in a forestry, arboriculture, natural resources management, horticulture, landscape design, or closely related curriculum, as a full-time student at a college, university, or vocational technical school.
Ability to identify various tree species.
Ability to work as a team member and collaborate effectively with others.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Must be able to work a 40-hour flexible schedule that includes nights, weekends, and holidays.
