Job Summary
The Part-time Recreation Leader is responsible for, but not limited to, preparing the gymnasium for patrons that participate in open gym, enforcing policies regarding open gym play, safety of participants, implementing structured activities, and daily cleanup at the close of open gym for the Smyrna Community Center. This position ensures eligibility of patrons for open gym play, resolving patron complaints as needed, and interacting with visitors to ensure effective and efficient operation of the open gym program.
PLEASE NOTE HOURS: Position generally works 1:30pm-6pm during open gym season (August-May) and during limited open gym times as available in June-July.
Essential Job Duties
- Ensures that patrons utilizing the gym for recreational play are following Open Gym rules and policies.
- Tactfully investigates and resolves patron complaints.
- Interacts with patrons as needed to ensure that all applicable rules and regulations are adhered to, and that activities and events run as planned.
- Maintain a safe environment and cleanliness of the gym / general building maintenance as needed. Ensure the gym is ready for use after open gym is completed.
- Report any issues/concerns to management.
- Plans and implements tournaments, challenges, races, games, etc for open gym patrons.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Minimum Requirements of Position
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED) PLUS one (1) year previous experience and /or training that includes facility supervision and working with the public; OR
- Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
- Must be able to successfully pass criminal background and post-offer drug screen.
