Salary Range: $16.75 - $25.12 per hour
SUMMARY: Under general supervision, this position develops a variety of marketing communications and provides advanced professional graphic design services, produces high-end visual, textural, and animated content for a variety of platforms (print publications, web pages, social media, etc.,) and maintains the brand identity standards of the City of Somerton.

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Designs and develops graphics, signs, brochures, reports, documents and other collateral materials for City departments.
- Performs various graphic design functions such as development of logos, advertising campaigns, and marketing materials, brochures, poster, fliers and signage.
- Creates and develops graphics to be used on the City’s social platforms.
- Researches, develops and recommends ideas and formats for various City projects.
- Collaborates with staff members and other City departments to meet all project timelines and deliverables from creative concepts to completion.
- Negotiates and works closely with vendors and printers.
- Develops and maintains the City brand design guidelines.
- Manages the City’s photo library and collaborates with staff to manage and maintain the City’s cloud based digital asset library.
- Monitor each departments information on the city website for accuracy, consistency and updates as needed. Is the point of contact between City and web developers.
- Takes photographs, edits, schedules and publishes on various media platforms.
- Promotes City programs, special events and exhibits with community groups, and regional organizations.
- Supports the relationship between the City of Somerton and the public by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with citizens, visitors, and City staff; promotes the City goals and priorities; and complies with all City policies and procedures.
- Maintains absolute confidentiality of work-related issues and City information; performs other duties as required or assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Training and Experience Guidelines
- Associate degree in Graphic Design, Advertising, or related field.
- Three (3) years’ experience in graphic design, communications, advertising and/or printing OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Knowledge of:
- City organization, operations, policies, and procedures.
- Methods and techniques for developing and presenting marketing, promotion, advertising, public information, and community relations programs.
- Technical requirements for print and electronic media.
- Specialized computer graphics software for design and layout of promotional materials.
- Computer software and applications related to graphic design like Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Adobe Premiere Pro and Illustrator); Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint); social media; web design.
Skill in:
- Developing and implementing strategies to promote the City.
- Preparing advertising and creative media information for diverse audiences.
- Designing materials and merging text and graphics on computer systems.
- Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with City staff, vendors, government officials, media representatives and the public.
- Using initiative and independent judgment within established procedural guidelines.
- Operating a personal computer utilizing standard and specialized software.
- Communicating effectively verbally and in writing.
LICENSE AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
A valid Arizona State Driver's License is required.
Drone pilot certification required within first year of employment.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed in a standard office environment; may occasionally be required to bend, reach, stoop, and lift objects.
