Route Collection Operator I

Description

The position works within the Green and Solid Waste Divisions within the Public Services Department and operates a variety of equipment.

Examples of Duties

• Operates and drives Green Waste Division collection equipment as well as assisting with all aspects of Green Waste and Solid Waste functions and duties.
• This position, like all CDL positions in the Public Services Department, may be required to assist in storm response/clean up.
• Some manual labor is required.
• When not operating equipment used in the collection of Green Waste, Solid Waste and/or leaves, operates light equipment and hand tools.
• Shall perform other duties as assigned.
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.

• Transporting personnel, equipment and tools to job sites
• Asphalt repair work
• Concrete repair, form and finishing
• Operate dump trucks, snowplows, sand spreaders and heavy equipment
• will also perform various grounds maintenance and/or roadside litter collection functions
• Will operate a variety of machinery and equipment in the performance of duties such as bobcat, pickup truck with trailer, mowers, string trimmer, blowers, chain saw, sweepers, utilizes a variety of tools such as wrenches, pruners, loppers, rakes, shovels, bush axes, etc.
