This position directs and oversees the overall operations and maintenance of the wastewater treatment plant.· Maintains a physical presence and reliable attendance with the ability to respond at all hours when necessary. · Oversees the proper, effective, and efficient treatment of wastewater for the City of Spearfish. · Ensures staff compliance with all safety guidelines and regulations. · Trains, assigns, directs, schedules, supervises, evaluates, and disciplines personnel. · Coordinates with state and federal regulatory agencies to ensure permit compliance. · Directs, plans, and oversees daily workflow. · Validates and submits plant compliance data to national databases and the Director of Public Works. · Plans for and coordinates special projects, including process tank swapping and rehabilitation, major pump rebuilds, etc. · Develops annual budgets and five-year capital outlay plans; ensures operations within approved budgets. · Provides plant tours to the public. · Develops and implements emergency operations plans. · Directs the operation, maintenance, and update of SCADA system and of other hardware and software systems. · Monitors and coordinates training for plant staff to ensure maintenance of required certifications. · Performs the duties of an Operator as required.
