Director of Neighborhood Services
- Develop, implement and lead community outreach with 29 Neighborhood Councils
- Provide information and present recommendations on community and neighborhood issues to City Council and City staff on large array of concerns that often impact multiple City departments
- Serve as liaison to the neighborhood councils, the community assembly, the City Council, the Mayor and departments in support of the City’s Neighborhood Council program
- Work with community centers in planning, coordinating and evaluating a program of services that meets varying neighborhood needs
- Provide leadership for resolutions to community issues and concerns
- Increase engagement of community programs and services for diverse audiences
- Serve as representative on committees, task forces and/or panels related to issues pertaining to community needs
- Coordinate special events, meetings and volunteer activities in the community
- Secures funding through grants and proposals for community programs and activities; manage budgets and allocations; oversee program compliance with grant funding, contracts, applicable legislation, policies and guidelines
- Perform full cycle project management responsibilities for various assigned projects
- Prepare and administer departmental budget(s)
- Coordinates the organization, staffing, and operational activities for ONS
- Serve as liaison with local universities regarding internships and other programming that benefits community organizations and city projects

- Develop contractual relationships with public and private sector organizations for neighborhood and community service activities
- Proficiently operate office equipment and programs including computers and supporting work processing, spreadsheet and program-specific applications
- Gather, and analyze complex data and facts to draw logical conclusions and make proper recommendations to various audiences both orally and in writing
- Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
- Adapt to other duties as assigned and prioritize, organize and plan work as needed to meet objectives
- Research, interpretation and application of municipal codes, ordinances, statutes, and other applicable rules and regulations

EDUCATION:
- Requires baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university with a major in urban and regional planning, public administration, communications, or a related field.
EXPERIENCE:
- Six (6) years of progressively responsible experience in the development, coordination and management of community programs and services, city or regional planning, social or human services or a closely related field that demonstrates the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Two (2) years supervisory experience
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:
- Possession of a valid driver’s license.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is conducted primarily in an office setting. It may involve frequent attendance at meetings to include some irregular hours and potentially out-of-town travel. Incumbents in this classification are expected to communicate verbally, in person and by telephone. A computer terminal is used and may require the use of repetitive arm-hand movements.
