Job Summary

The incumbent is responsible for answering the phone; answer questions from citizens; direct inquiries for assistance to the appropriate Public Works division supervisor; issue street cuts, street bore; administer the Bulky Waste Pick Up Program and the Graffiti Abatement Program; compile spreadsheets for data analysis and data organization and type documents as directed by the Public Works Director.

Starting salary is $33,672

Job Description


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Provide good customer service to both internal and external customers; maintain positive and effective working relationships with other City employees (especially members of their own team), and have regular and reliable attendance that is non-disruptive.

2. Answer the phone and address questions posed by citizens.

3. Issue street cut, street bore, and curb cut permits.

4. Administer the Bulky Waste Pick Up Program and Graffiti Abatement Program.

5.Compose letters, memorandums, spreadsheets and other requested documents.

6. Report street lights in need of repair to the appropriate electric company.

7. Take office inventory and type inventory numbers for other supervisors.

8. Help type and compile annual bid documents.

9. Perform other duties as required or assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or GED and two years of related experience and/or training.

PUBLIC CONTACT
Daily contact with citizens of Springdale.

EMPLOYEE CONTACT
Regular contacts within the department and with other departments as needed.

USE OF MACHINES, EQUIPMENT AND/OR COMPUTERS
Must be proficient in the use of a personal computer and phone with a small switchboard. Needs to have knowledge of Microsoft Office products and be able to learn internal systems.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Ability to utilize both internal and external resources to obtain information and data necessary to carry out routine assignments and special projects. Must have ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with management and staff.
