Job Standards
The Office of Budget and Management is seeking an individual to manage, administer, and coordinate the activities of the Fleet Division in support of established policies, goals and objectives. Delegate assignments to subordinate managers, supervisors, and employees. Promote communication and adequate information flow between the Fleet Division and its clients. Coordinate, schedule, assign, and supervise preventative and routine maintenance on City vehicles and equipment. Review analyses of activities, costs, operations, and forecast data to determine division progress toward goals and objectives. Oversee employee hiring and performance management. Develop budget estimates based on anticipated needs. Ensure proper training and utilization of fleet asset management and fuel software systems. This position requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to four years of college, and six years administrative experience in procurement, fleet repair, maintenance operations, and inventory. Graduation from a certified trade school for automotive mechanics or an AAS in automotive technology may substitute for two years of the required administrative experience. Possession of a valid Illinois Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or the ability to obtain one within 45 days of hire is required.
