Job Standards
The Office of Public Works, Building & Zoning Division is seeking an individual to review and approve permit applications; inspect and evaluate new mechanical installations, alterations, and repairs in public and private buildings for compliance with City mechanical codes; and enforce codes in areas of non-compliance. This position requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to four years of high school, four years of responsible training in the mechanical trade and an additional five years of work experience in the mechanical field, or any equivalent combination of training and experience. Possession of or ability to acquire and maintain International Code Council (ICC) Mechanical Inspection Certification within timeframe specified by the City of Springfield and valid Class D driver's license is also required.
