What are the responsibilities and job description for the Golf Course Worker position at City of Springfield, MA?
Position Purpose/Summary
This is seasonal, part-time work in the maintenance of the City’s golf courses. Work is performed under supervision, in accordance with standard practices and procedures. No supervision is exercised over other employees.
Essential Functions
- Maintains golf courses by cutting grass, tees, fairways and greens
- Plants and transplants flowers; weeds and waters flower beds
- Picks up trash and empties trash bins
- Cleans machinery and tools
- Performs related work as required
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Considerable knowledge of the standard practices, materials, tools, equipment, and processes and techniques of the work performed
- Considerable knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions involved in work performed
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers and facility users
- Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions
- Skill in the use and care of tools, equipment, and materials employed in the work performed
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- One year experience in golf course or similar maintenance preferred

Paid Sick Time
Full time employees are immediately eligible to begin accruing 1 1/4 days per month which can be taken after 6 months of service. Unused sick days can be rolled over to subsequent calendar years. Supplemental Long Term and Short disability coverage is available to employees at the employee cost.
Paid Personal Days
Use up to 3 of your accrued sick days as Personal days. Personal days cannot be rolled over into the next calendar year.
