Position Purpose / Summary
Responsible for all Golf Course and Golf Shop operations and services offered at a municipal Golf Course. Responsible for promoting an exceptional golf experience and providing excellent services and programs for all patrons. Develops golf operations departmental budget including past performances and forecasts to ensure all financial goals are met. Work is performed with considerable latitude for the exercise of independent judgment and decision-making under direction of the Executive Director of Parks, Buildings and Recreation Management and Director of Open Space. Supervision is exercised over others.
Essential Functions
- Responsible for overseeing the management of a Municipal Golf Course and Golf Shop.
- Plans, promotes, and directs all golf activities.
- Schedules tee times for normal play; works with tournament organizers to host successful tournaments.
- Administers, interprets, and enforces all course rules and policies that govern the use of the course, golf carts, and other golf-related activities.
- Implements and administers the start of play and golf handicap system.
- Assigns Golf Course Attendants to act as starters, rangers, or golf shop assistants.
- Responsible for scheduling, timekeeping, and payroll for golf course employees under his / her supervision.
- Responsible for monitoring and performing daily POS system closings, reconciliation of daily sales, preparing daily cash reports, bank deposits, credit card sales administration and maintaining up to date daily sales statistics, and recording daily sales in the city's accounting software.
- Develops, maintains and administers a sound business and organizational plan for all golf courses which includes an operating budget and marketing plans.
- Assures golf courses are operated in accordance with all applicable local, state and federal laws.
- Oversees and enforces the golf shop operations policies, procedures, controls, and fee structures to ensure the safekeeping of assets, inventory and resources.
- Oversees merchandising for the golf shop; maintains inventories and sales records.
- Oversees the supervision of the maintenance of golf carts and golf operations personnel.
- Empowers employees to provide excellent customer service and strives to improve service performance.
- Approves and orders supplies associated with golf activities.
- Develops and oversees tournament schedules and golf activities program that services all customer segments.
- Maintains a close working relationship with staff and Greens Superintendents.
- Reviews findings from guest feedback with employees to develop appropriate corrective action. Resolves all guest complaints immediately.
- Coordinates plans with the Food and Beverage Manager for all food and beverage needs for outside events and catering for all golf functions.
- Responsible for the Golf Shop Retail operation to include buying product, managing and inventory.

- Responsible for the financial reconciliation and record keeping of all refunds, league certificates, gift card balances, and account credit.

Do you have an Associate's degree in business or related field?
Do you have a bachelor's degree in business or related field? (preferred)
Do you have a minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of golf course experience in a similar role from a public or private Golf Club?
Do you have a minimum of two (2) years of golf course management, recreation facility, or business administration experience?
Do you have experience with point of sale systems and golf tee sheet? (preferred)
