The Landfill is a vital part of the solid waste management plan in Springfield. The Mission of the City of Springfield's Solid Waste Management Division is to provide an Integrated Solid Waste Management System for Springfield and Greene County that is environmentally sound and economically feasible which represents a long-term solution to preserve the natural resources of the region of present and future generations. Please note the planned schedule for Equipment Operator III Testing:
- Individual times will be scheduled for qualified candidates after the closing date;
- Skills Testing site at the Springfield Sanitary Landfill;
- Candidate Interviews will be held following the Skills Test.
- A minimum of 24 months experience in the operation of heavy dozers, excavators, scrapers, haul trucks, or equivalent graded equipment;
- Individual must pass appropriate equipment operation skills test.
Licensing/Certification
- Must possess a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) that would enable the driver to operate at minimum a class "B" vehicle with airbrakes.
- In order to qualify for some assignments, candidates must possess endorsements such as tanker and/or a class "A" license.
