The City of Springfield is seeking a dynamic and experienced professional to lead and manage our Traffic Engineering Division. This is an exciting opportunity for a highly skilled engineer to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the city's traffic and transportation systems. As the Division Manager, you will oversee the planning, development, and implementation of critical traffic engineering projects that enhance the safety, efficiency, and sustainability of our transportation infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities :
- Leadership and Direction : Lead and coordinate all activities of the Traffic Engineering or Transportation Management Division, including traffic planning, signalization, and intersection improvements. Ensure alignment with the city's overall public works goals and objectives.
- Policy Development : Collaborate with the Director and Assistant Directors to develop and implement division policies. Provide expert advice on traffic programs and propose actionable recommendations for traffic-related issues.
- Team Building & Staff Development : Foster a high-performing team by establishing clear goals, promoting continuous improvement, and offering professional development opportunities to your team. Provide supervision, performance evaluations, and ongoing support to your staff.
- Collaboration & Outreach : Work closely with internal city departments, consultants, contractors, and local agencies to ensure successful project outcomes. Represent the department in civic meetings, neighborhood groups, and community discussions to gather feedback and address concerns.
- Strategic Planning & Budget Management : Manage long-term planning efforts, project priorities, and forecasting. Develop and maintain the division's operating budget while ensuring effective resource allocation.
- Project Oversight : Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of traffic control devices, signal systems, and related infrastructure. Monitor project progress through site inspections and collaborate with teams to resolve issues as they arise.
- Public Engagement : Attend and participate in public hearings, workshops, and presentations to engage with residents and stakeholders about the division's ongoing projects and traffic-related concerns.
