Skilled electrical, electronic, and precision instrument maintenance work on treatment plant facilities and equipment.
Work involves installing, maintaining, and repairing electronic equipment and precision instruments at the treatment plant wellfields, lift stations, pump stations and elevated tanks, including micro-computers and mainframe computers and electronic control systems and peripheral equipment. Work also involves performing electrical component and equipment repair and maintenance. Work may also involve training a Technician I or maintenance electrician in the techniques of electronic repair and maintenance, and serving as group leader on instrument maintenance jobs. Work is performed with technical independence and judgment under the direct supervision of the Wastewater Treatment Plant Assistant Superintendent. Work is reviewed through written and oral reports and observation of results obtained.
Possession of a valid State of Ohio driver's license.

- Assists in maintaining and making necessary repairs to microcomputers and microcomputer control systems and peripheral devices.
- Assists in making the necessary repairs to the treatment plant mainframe computer and associated multiplex unites to the circuit board level. Replaces inoperative circuit boards and runs periodic updates on the data disk tape.
- Maintains, repairs and adjusts valve controllers, chemical analyzers, temperature meters, chart recorders, level indicators, chlorine detectors, process control analyzers, chemical feed and other related process control equipment.
- Installs, inspects and services transmitters, receivers, probes, signal telemetry equipment and all related systems that are components of treatment plant facilities instrumentation.
- Installs, inspects and maintains electrical systems for lighting, motor control, HVAC and process control.
- Reads and follows plans, wiring diagrams and specifications.
- Diagnoses and makes necessary repairs to pumps, blowers, motors of up to 700 HP on either AC or DC current.
- Tests motors for insulations resistance, amperage and speed.
- Installs or replaces all types of electrical conduit and wire, breaker panels, switches, outlets, lighting fixtures and related equipment.
- Maintains records and makes reports of parts, work performed and material used.
- Performs related maintenance work as required and may perform work of higher classifications as required.
- Performs all related work as assigned.
Possession of a valid State of Ohio driver's license.
- Thorough knowledge of hand and machine tools used for electrical and electronic maintenance.
- Thorough knowledge of the symbols and markings used in detailed electrical and electronics system diagrams thus permitting them to be read with proficiency.
- Considerable knowledge of 3 phase electrical wiring.
- Good knowledge of the installation and maintenance of equipment operating at 4160, 440, 220, 110, and lower voltages.
- Good knowledge of motor controls, telemetering systems and electrical motors ranging from 1/4 HP to 700 HP.
- Considerable knowledge of safety procedures used in electrical and electronic installation and maintenance activities.
- Considerable knowledge of electrical theory and the National Electrical Code.
- Knowledge of the operation and maintenance of digital and analog relays.
- Ability to diagnose electronic equipment and computer circuit boards for proper operation.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints, operation and maintenance manuals, drawings, wiring and control diagrams for structures and related equipment.
- Ability to lead and supervise maintenance workers.
- Ability to identify electrical, electronic and instrumentation malfunctions and determine how they can be corrected and prevented.
- Ability to be called out at times other than regular working hours to respond to emergency conditions.
- Ability to perform physical labor for extended periods of time.
- Ability to work with supervision in formulating and carrying out programs.
- Ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing.
- Ability to prepare written reports.
- Skill in the use of the tools, materials, and equipment used in the electrical trade.
