POSITION TITLE: INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SPECIALIST
DEPARTMENT: INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY
REPORTS TO: INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY MANAGER
EXEMPT STATUS: NON-EXEMPT
SUMMARY:
Assists with planning for, installing, configuring, managing, maintaining, and replacing information systems such as desktop computers, mobile devices, network and data infrastructure, and telecommunications. Acts as first technical point of contact for all IT related issues and provides basic technical support. Responsible for compliance with all information system policies, including law enforcement control policies.
MAJOR DUTIES:
· Information security related tasks including the collection, review, response, and preservation of event, antivirus, and firewall logs.
· Patch management throughout all information systems. Ensure that firewalls, and windows-based devices receive all critical updates; firewalls and antivirus solutions have the latest definitions.
· Manage and assist with proper storage of IT related documentation and files, including installation files, software keys and licenses.
· Maintain IT Asset Management inventory.
· Purchasing for IT department needs. Assist with evaluation and recommendation of hardware and software purchases. Complete bid documentation, requisition requests, and code purchase orders for departmental purchases.
OTHER DUTIES:
· Assist in providing support for users, equipment, and software. Provide technical assistance with content management for City controlled websites. Act as first point of contact for IT related issues.
· Install, replace, and relocate IT hardware and peripherals as needed.
· Evaluates and assists with implementing various computer security policies including, but not limited to, the Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) security policy, applicable City policies, industry standards, and best practices.
· Assist with support for electronic access control systems, security systems, and surveillance systems.
· Utilize available educational resources to maintain relevant skills to perform job duties as required.
· Other duties as assigned by your supervisor.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Requires possession of a high school, or equivalent, diploma. The ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in written form.
Possession of associate degree in computer engineering related field, two years of proven experience in computer engineering related field, or industry standard certifications a plus.
Must pass national fingerprint-based background check and have a clean criminal history.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must possess the manual dexterity to operate office and computer equipment and the ability to stoop, kneel, and bend as required to repair and replace equipment.
