The purpose of this position is to support the Camp Director in overseeing daily operations and ensuring a safe and enriching environment for all campers. This role requires direct interaction with parents of campers requiring special accommodations, working collaboratively to identify and implement strategies that promote each camper's success.
2025 Foundry Art Camp is scheduled for 8 weeks beginning on June 2 and ending the week of July 28. There will be no camp the week of June 30. Staff orientation will be Sunday, May 18.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist the Camp Coordinator in planning, organizing, and implementing daily camp activities and schedules
- Conduct meetings with parents of campers who require accommodations to assess individual needs and develop tailored plans for success
- Supervise staff to ensure that accommodation needs are being met effectively, fostering an inclusive environment for all campers
- Collaborate with staff to integrate accommodations into camp programming
- Provide support to campers with diverse needs, promoting a supportive and encouraging atmosphere
- Monitor camper behavior and engagement, addressing any issues promptly and effectively.
- Assist in the preparation and organization of art supplies and materials for daily projects.
- Promote a positive camp culture that emphasizes creativity, teamwork, and personal growth.
- Assure quality programming, appropriate schedules, advance planning and proper record keeping
- Supervise Interns to prepare and organize for a strong educational experience
- Communicate openly with parents and assist with drop off and pick up
- Maintain all records, evaluations and reports required
- Attend Staff meetings and implement necessary process changes as needed
- Responsible for camper paper work and sensitive information
- Performance of additional duties assigned to insure the success of the Educational program
Minimum Training and Qualifications Required to Perform Essential Job Functions
- Experience working with children, particularly those with special needs or accommodations
- Background in teaching, art education, or a related field preferred
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage with parents and staff
- Patience, empathy, and a passion for fostering creativity in children
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
