The purpose of this position is to plan, organize, creatively conduct and supervise art camp activities for children ranging from age 6-16. Teacher will develop creative theme-based curriculum for the age group they are assigned to supervise.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop art curriculum for campers Provide appropriate supply lists and examples for camp themed age appropriate curriculum to Camp Coordinator
- Coordinate and organize all of the activity areas into free-flowing daily activity schedule
- Be available 8:30 am-4:00 pm M-F from June 2-Aug 1, 2024 (NO CAMP June 30 to July 4)
- Be available the week prior to camp to set up classroom and for camp orientation (May 18 at 10am)
- Assure quality programming, appropriate schedules, advance planning and proper record keeping
- Supervise Interns to prepare and organize for a strong educational experience
- Communicate openly with parents and assist with drop off and pick up
- Maintain all records, evaluations and reports required
- Attend Staff meetings and implement necessary process changes as needed
- Responsible for camper paper work and sensitive information
- Maintain Motivation - Direction - Enthusiasm - to guide campers in a successful summer experience
- Keep Camp Coordinator informed of all positive or negative comments regarding the program, staff/volunteer, children, general public, and facilities
- Enforcement of all Camp, staff procedures and protocols
- Performance of additional duties assigned to insure the success of the Educational program
Knowledge and Ability
- Ability to organize, plan and execute detailed events
- Ability to lift and move program materials as well as walk campers to lunch in Frontier Park
- Ability to communicate effectively with all age groups
Minimum Training and Qualifications Required to Perform Essential Job Functions
- Art Education K-12, Studio Art with teaching experience, or K-12 Classroom experience preferred
- Previous curriculum development, studio art experience in a variety of media or learning environment
- Positive attitude, excellent classroom management skills
- Working artists and certified teachers given preference
