Are you an IT network professional seeking a managerial position in a fast-paced, dynamic and progressive municipal information technology department? This hands-on position is responsible for the full lifecycle of the City’s information technology infrastructure, including, network, server, storage, voice communications, building security, audio/visual equipment and software. Provides on-site leadership for technical infrastructure operations and manages the Help Desk function.
Examples of Duties
- Plan, design, implement, operate, and optimize voice communications, network, server (physical and virtual), and storage hardware and software to address current and future requirements.
- Actively monitor and maintain technology systems across City facilities, including performance, security and system availability, including response to emergency calls 24/7.
- Supervise staff of three and may assume responsibility as Director of Information Systems when assigned.
- Perform primary maintenance of the City’s Enterprise Resource Planning system and other applications.
- Provide coordination, planning, and technical assistance to support cooperative arrangements with other entities, including St. Charles School District 303, Kane County, Tri-Com Central Dispatch, Geneva, and Batavia.
- Assist with the development and implementation of the department’s mission, strategic plan, business plan, and budget.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, cybersecurity, network engineering, or related field, master’s degree preferred.
- Eight years of Microsoft, Cisco and/or HPE Aruba networking design or support experience, including experience with Active Directory and Microsoft 365 administration and management.
- Five years of supervisory experience.
- Two years of Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) management and support.
- Possession of Cisco CCNA; HPE Aruba Networking Certified Associate; Microsoft Certified Azure Administrator; Azure Security Engineer Associate; Microsoft Identity and Access Administrator certification or equivalent.
- Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles, frameworks, and best practices.
- Proficiency with TCP/IP and experience with design and installation of network routing and switching.
- Ability to take initiative, and exercise professional, independent judgment to plan work, formulate recommendations, and make sound decisions.
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills to build rapport with co-workers, contractors, management, and elected officials are essential.
- Valid drivers’ license.
- If selected, successful completion of a thorough background check, physical, functional capacity evaluation, and drug screen are required. Applicants must have the ability to lift to 40 lbs., with or without reasonable accommodation.
