The City of St. Cloud is seeking a skilled and motivated Equipment Operator to join our Public Works Department. In this role, you will operate heavy trucks and other specialized equipment to maintain roads, rights-of-way, drainage areas, and other key infrastructure essential to our community's well-being.

- Performs minor preventative maintenance work on equipment to ensure that the equipment is in working order; performs routine service and safety checks on equipment.
- Reports potentially significant maintenance or repair problems to a supervisor and to the Vehicle Maintenance Supervisor.
- Operates a front-end loader (3 cubic yard bucket or less), to load working materials onto a dump truck and within a job site.
- Operates a rubber tire backhoe (equal or less than 20' reach) for digging. and excavation.
- Operates the Skid Steer loader for loading, grading, and concrete removal.
- Operates the vac truck to clean and maintain the City drainage system.
- Operates the Street Sweeper.
- May operate the excavator, grader, or dozer on a temporary, emergency, or trainee basis.
- Drives a dump truck to haul materials and debris.
- Removes and restores the base and surface of asphalt roadways, concrete sidewalks and driveways.
- Performs related work as assigned.
Must be able to respond to afterhours emergencies or work efforts.
Must possess and maintain the following certifications or obtain within one (1) year of employment:
- Maintenance of Traffic Level I
- Trenching and Shoring Competent Person
- Confined Space
- Forklift Operator
- Equipment Operator 1 - Street Sweeper, Dump truck, Loader (3 cubic yard bucket or less), Back-Hoe (equal or less than 20' reach), Mini Excavator, Jet-Vac, Concrete truck, Skid Loader, Forklift.
Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license – Class A (restriction 5 – no tractor/trailers) with an acceptable driving history.Physical Requirements:

Mathematics:
Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
Language Ability:
Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.
Reasoning:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
