What are the responsibilities and job description for the Planner II position at City of St. Cloud?
The City of St. Cloud is accepting applications for a full-time Planner II. This is an advanced planning position focusing on zoning, annexation, heritage preservation, capital improvements planning, and special projects. The position requires a broad range of planning knowledge and exercises considerable latitude in performing the City’s planning activities. Work requires frequent contact with city boards and commissions, developers and their agents, and the general public to provide information and advice regarding policy and development review matters.
Minimum Requirements:
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a degree in urban planning or a closely related field.
- Four years progressively responsible experience in an urban/suburban planning environment.
- Experience in the field may substitute for education at a ratio of 2 to 1 (e.g. 4 years experience = 2 year graduate degree).
- Professional certification through the American Institute of Certified Planners is desirable.
Desirable Education and Experience: Master’s degree in urban planning or a closely related field. Knowledge of the following planning subject matter: zoning, environmental review, design, planning theory, heritage preservation, demographic analysis, and land development; Ability to review architectural plans, site and landscape plans, building elevations, plats, surveys, and related materials to determine compliance with applicable land use, design, zoning, subdivision, and environmental regulations; and GIS.
