The City of St. Cloud is seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Temporary Pool Technician to help maintain our community’s aquatic facilities. This part-time position plays a crucial role in ensuring the health, safety, and enjoyment of our residents and visitors at the Aquatic Center and Lakefront Splash Pad.
In this role, you will perform skilled work operating and maintaining pool and splash pad systems, including recirculation, chemical feeding, and automated monitoring systems. You will also be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of all aquatic facilities while working closely with the Aquatics Superintendent to ensure smooth operations.

Position Details:
- Status: Temporary, Part-Time
- Reports to: Aquatics Superintendent
- Duties: Vary based on division needs
- Hours: Vary – Monday – Friday (6:00 am to 9:00 pm)
Saturday – Sunday (8:00 am to 7:00 pm)

- Inspects and performs regular testing of swimming pool facilities and supporting equipment to identify potential operational problems and to comply with local and state health requirements.
- Diagnose water chemistry problems; make corrections or adjustment for proper water balance.
- Performs clean up duties for the pool and splash pad facilities including; vacuuming pools and facilities, chemical treatments of pools, etc.
- Completes daily chemical usage and water quality reports. Maintains reports on repairs and supplies.
- Vacuums, cleans, and back washes pool and splash pad water as needed for both sand and D. E. filter systems.
- Assist in repairs to general pool area including power washing decks and diving boards, replacing broken straps on lounge chairs, cleaning pool gutters, etc.
- Clean skimmer baskets.
- Enforce all established rules and regulations.
- Drive to and from destinations as assigned by Superintendent and/or Lead Lifeguard.
- Performs underwater repairs and maintenance to pool light, fittings, and surfaces.
- Complies with department policies.
- Performs additional duties as required.
- High school Diploma or GED.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Basic knowledge of care, upkeep, and preventative maintenance of aquatic facilities.
- One year in swimming pool operations, maintenance, and repairs including plumbing.
- Ability to maintain current Aquatic Facility Operator and/or Certified Pool Operator certification and Public Service Technician certification or obtain certification(s) within 6 months of employment.
- Ability to work extended hours and evenings, holidays, and weekends.
- A swim test is required and a passing grade must be obtained.
- Maintenance of a current/valid State of Florida Driver License which meets requirements outlined in the City's Personnel Rules and Regulations Manual as well as any requirements by the City's insurance carrier (at no additional cost, or risk), and determined by the City to be an acceptable driving record history.

Mathematics:
Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
Language Ability:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Ability to reads and understands mechanical and repair manuals. Knows mechanical, electrical, plumbing repair techniques.
