About the position
Participate in municipal natural resources and park landscape maintenance supporting the city's Pollinate the Park initiative including installing and watering plants, assisting with garden design, identification of weeds and weed removal, invasive plant species control, maintenance of city landscapes, and light equipment maintenance.
This is a seasonal, full-time position working an average of 32 hours per week from May - November.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform physical labor in the context of gardening and ecological restoration.
- Planting gardens.
- Watering plants.
- Development of plant and weed identification skills.
- Weed removal.
- Drive light duty trucks pulling trailers.
- Remove invasive plants such as buckthorn with manual saws and cutting tools.
- Communicate with residents and park users about park gardens.
- Assist with maintenance of community gardens.
- Assist with volunteer events.
- Clean-up litter and general maintenance in park and natural areas.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as apparent or as assigned.
