About the position
Under direction of Nature Center Manager, provide customer service, custodial, equipment, facility, and grounds maintenance services, in a manner, which ensures efficient operations and provides a safe, clean and welcoming environment for Nature Center visitors.
This is a seasonal, full-time position running from May to September working up to 40 hours per week. Standard work hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.Applications may be reviewed on a regular basis, and interviews may be extended before closing date.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide grounds maintenance services including but not limited to: trash pick-up, weed pulling, water garden maintenance, boardwalk and hiking trail maintenance, snow removal and habitat restoration projects.
- Open and close rental facilities.
- Be staff member "on-site" during building rentals to monitor facility and activities.
- Set up meeting and rental facilities as per schedule.
- Clean restrooms and rental facilities daily.
- Empty trash receptacles.
- Report and remove graffiti.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be able to work a varied schedule including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Valid driver's license.
- Ability to perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.
- Ability to operate weed trimmers. lawn mowers, blowers and other equipment.
Desired Qualifications
- Demonstrated cultural competence and comfort with supporting the city’s strategic objectives for racial equity.
- Previous experience working in a public setting or working with the public; park, nature center, visitor center, etc.
- Previous maintenance and/or custodial maintenance experience.
