Provide quality customer service by greeting and assisting visitors, answering phones, processing transactions for facility rentals and activity registration, and assisting internal and external customers with various requests.This position will work various shifts covering the Rec Center customer service counter and skate shop, and Westwood Hills Nature Center front desk.
Position is part-time and non-benefit earning, working an average of 20 hours per week from May – September. Must be able to work days, evenings, weekends and holidays as needed.
Applications may be reviewed on an ongoing basis with invites to interview before closing date.1. Provide friendly, efficient and effective customer service, through in person, email and telephone contact, in a courteous and helpful manner.
- Emphasize a customer-friendly, helpful approach in serving callers, guests and staff.
- Open and close assigned location as scheduled.
- Maintain a clean, pleasant and professional environment.
- Be familiar with all activities and services provided by the department.
- Communicate schedule changes, events or issues that occurred with supervisor in a timely manner.
- Provide information and answer inquiries as needed.
- Accept and process membership passes, activity registrations, and facility rental applications accurately in the applicable database.
- Work with other staff as needed for facility or maintenance needs.
- Prepare cash and Point of Sale computer for shift.
- Act as cashier for registration fees, user fees, facility rental fees and point of sale items.
- Close out register at end of shift and prepare daily deposit by comparing revenue received to cash journal.
- Open skate shop and prepare for shift, securing area at end of shift.
- Keep area clean and organized.
- Distribute rental skates and care for when returned during public skating and ice skating lessons.
- Supervise participants as needed to ensure public skating rules are enforced.
- Must be at least 15 years old.
- Experience with:
- Customer service.
- Handling cash or credit card payments.
- Microsoft Office and Web-based applications.
- Ability to:
- Understand and speak English clearly.
- Handle complaints and concerns of internal and external customers in a tactful and respectful manner.
- Establish and maintain a good working relationship with staff and the general public.
- Multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
- Work independently and provide customer service in a professional manner.
- Work days, evenings, weekends and holidays.
- Solve problems that may arise and work in a detailed manner.
- Demonstrated cultural competence and comfort with supporting the city’s strategic objectives for advancing racial equity.
- One or more years related experience.
- Ability to speak or understand other languages, especially Spanish, Russian, or Somali.
Salary : $16 - $18
