About the Position
The City of Saint Paul Police Department is hiring an individual to perform advanced clerical work of a more complex nature including planning, organizing, and producing work which requires independent judgment and specialized knowledge.

- Provide clerical and administrative support to division management and at times, support other sections within the department
- Respond to internal and external inquiries
- Prepare, review, verify and process pertinent department records and reports

Information Specific to this Position:
This position is with Saint Paul Police Department Human Resources, and will work in office Monday through Friday.

The eligible list created from this assessment may also be used to fill Office Assistant IV positions as they become available in various departments within the City.

Position Requirements
High school diploma or General Education Development certificate (GED) and four years of clerical/administrative experience, two years which must have been as an Office Assistant III, or equivalent.
Two years of post-high school education can be substituted for two years of clerical/administrative experience if the curriculum included course work related to the work performed by the Office or Executive Assistant classes.

Assessment: Qualifications Rating and Computer Assessment
Qualifications Rating:The Qualifications Rating is an assessment of your completed application, answers to the Supplemental Questionnaire, and your resume. Be as specific and detailed as possible in completing your application and any attachments. You must submit your completed application, supplemental questionnaire and any attachments by the application deadline.
Computer Assessment:
This computer-based assessment consists of multiple-choice, true or false, and simulated questions developed to assess your knowledge of Microsoft Office to include Excel, Word, Outlook, as well as other applicable skills.
Eligible candidates will receive further information regarding testing date, time, and location after the position closes to the email address included in your application. Testing to take place the week of March 31st, 2025.

Calculation of the Final Score = (Qualification Rating *.60) (Computerized Assessment *.40)
GENERAL INFORMATION:
Eligible Lists Created from Open Job Posting: You must receive a score of 75% or higher to pass the assessment and be considered for the position. Non-promotion eligible lists typically are pass/fail and promotion eligible lists are typically ranked. If the open eligible list created contains a veteran, one open list will exist. When there are no veterans remaining on the eligible list (i.e. hired, withdrawn) from an open list that also contains promotional candidates, two lists will be created: one open list and one promotion list. If two lists exist, the promotion list must be exhausted before the open list is considered.
Final Selection Process: Those who pass will be placed on an eligible list for approximately six months and all will be notified of their status. A Hiring Manager will consider those applicants eligible for hire. You will be notified if you are invited to participate in the final selection process which may include an interview, job simulation, work sample submission, or other evaluation method.
Pre-Employment Screening: This position may require a driver’s license check, credit check, drug test, and/or a background check which may include criminal history, and employment history as a condition of employment.
