About the Position
The City of Saint Paul Public Works Department is hiring an individual to perform skilled work and lead crew members to ensure the continuous operation of sewage pumps, flood water pumps, and sewage measuring devices.
Here's what you can expect to do:
- Repair and/or perform preventive maintenance on pumps, motors, compressors, electrical devices, and related equipment.
- Undertake the general maintenance of the sewer pump station buildings in order to keep sewer pumping station buildings and panels in a state of good repair.
- Maintain pump gauges, record gauge readings, and monitor general pump station operations.
- Respond to after-hours calls, overtime, and emergency work as needed.

Position Requirements
Two years of experience working in a municipal sewer setting inspecting, maintaining, and repairing mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems for sewer pumping stations, buildings, and grounds.
Must possess a current Class SC Waste Water Certificate.
Must possess and maintain a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with no restrictions for air brakes. The CDL must have no suspensions or revocations for driving-related offenses during the two year period prior to the date of appointment. Suspensions for parking-related offenses are excluded.

Assessment: Qualifications Rating
The Qualifications Rating is an assessment of your completed application and answers to the Supplemental Questionnaire. GENERAL INFORMATION:
Open Job Posting: This posting is open to anyone who meets the position requirements.
Eligible Lists: Eligible lists are typically created from a pass/fail assessment. Those who pass the assessment will be placed on an eligible list for approximately six months. Hiring Managers may interview/hire anyone from the list.
Final Selection Process: You must receive a score of 75% or higher to pass the assessment and be considered for the position. Those who pass will be placed on an eligible list and all will be notified of their status. A Hiring Manager will consider those applicants eligible for hire. You will be notified if you are invited to participate in the final selection process which may include an interview, job simulation, work sample submission, or other evaluation method.
