Job Summary
The City of St. Peters is seeking a knowledgeable and experienced Athletic Fields and Habitat Crew Leader to oversee the maintenance of athletic fields, public habitats, and park grounds. This position requires advanced expertise in turf management, landscaping, and habitat care, as well as strong leadership skills to supervise work crews. You will play a vital role in ensuring our recreational spaces and natural areas are maintained to the highest standards for the enjoyment of the community.
Normal Shift: Mon-Fri 7:00am to 3:30pm, rotating weekend field prep
Key Responsibilities
- Manage athletic field reservations, game preparation, and routine field maintenance.
- Lead habitat management initiatives, including land stewardship, reforesting, and invasive plant control.
- Oversee natural area maintenance and improvements to park grounds and landscapes.
- Supervise work crews, including scheduling, training, and ensuring safety compliance.
- Implement advanced turf management practices for athletic fields and public spaces.
- Maintain Park amenities, irrigation systems, and landscaping projects.
- Respond to resident inquiries and address concerns regarding park and habitat spaces.
- Operate and maintain vehicles, tools, and equipment essential to park and habitat management.
- Ensure all work complies with City safety standards and guidelines.

Minimum Requirements
- Must be a US citizen or lawfully authorized alien worker.
- High School graduate or GED certificate and four (4) years of relevant experience or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must have a Class "A" CDL valid in the state of Missouri or obtain within 120 days of employment. Commercial drivers' instruction permit (CDIP) must be obtained within 60 days of employment.
- Skilled in the operation of light and heavy equipment.
- Moderate ability to operate a variety of tools, equipment and vehicles in work activities related to the work unit.
