Job Summary
The City of St. Peters, MO, is seeking a dedicated Building Inspector to join our team! In this position, you will perform critical inspections and plan reviews to ensure compliance with City codes and national standards for new and existing commercial & residential buildings. You'll support public safety and maintain high-quality standards in our community.

Normal Shift Time: Mon-Fri; 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM (Additional On-Call Times)
Key Responsibilities:
- Inspect new and existing commercial & residential buildings, including electrical, mechanical, and plumbing installations, for code compliance.
- Review plans submitted with permit applications for new construction and existing structures.
- Provide technical assistance to developers, contractors, and the public regarding building and code compliance.
- Assist with emergency City operations as required.
- Review blueprints to verify code compliance.
- Adhere to City safety standards and regulations in all work performed.
Minimum Requirements:
- Must be a U.S. citizen or lawfully authorized alien worker.
- High School graduate or GED certificate and two (2) years of applicable experience.
- Motor Vehicle Operator's license valid in the state of Missouri.
- Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. and occasionally lift and/or move more than 75 lbs.
Additional Requirements:
- International Code Council Property Maintenance and Housing Certification (64) or obtained within six (6) months of employment.
Consideration Will be Given for the Following Certificates and Experience:
- Experience performing residential building inspections.
- Experience performing commercial building inspections.
- International Code Council Residential Inspector Certifications (B1)
- International Code Council Commercial Building Inspector Certification (B2)
- International Code Council Residential Plans Examiner Certification (R3)
- International Code Council Plans Examiner Certification (B3)
- International Code Council Residential MEP Certificates
- International Code Council Commercial MEP Certificates

- Salary Range: $64,022.40 - $98,800.00
