What are the responsibilities and job description for the Building Demolition Coordinator position at City of St. Petersburg?
This is responsible administrative and technical work involving the coordination of the condemnation process and securing and/or demolition of unfit, unsafe commercial and residential structures, and other work, as assigned associated with inspection of residential and commercial properties to maintain regulatory compliance with established housing and zoning codes, laws, and regulations affecting the life, health, and welfare of the community within the Codes Compliance Assistance Department. Work involves coordinating demolition projects and related activities performed by qualified contractors and licensed building inspectors in compliance with applicable local, state and federal regulations, including regulations regarding asbestos control and air quality. Work includes all related record keeping, administration of procurement processes, coordinating surveys for asbestos-containing materials in structures, and monitoring appropriate contract requirements for the removal of such materials by qualified survey and abatement contractors.
Salary: $26.60 - $40.76 Hourly

To Qualify
Minimum Qualifications. Applicants must:
- Have a valid high school diploma or GED equivalency.
- Possess and maintain a valid Driver License.
- Have considerable progressively responsible experience in building construction, building and housing inspection, asbestos management or related fields involving applicable federal, state, and local codes.
- Be able to communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing.
- Have good computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and database entry to produce required documents and reports.
- Have considerable knowledge and skill in the detection of possible defects and faults in building construction and of stages of construction where these conditions are most readily ascertained and remedied.
- Be able to interpret and enforce laws, regulations, and codes with firmness, tact, and impartiality.
- Be able to exercise considerable judgment, impartiality and tact when coordinating necessary procedures with contractors, employees and the public.
Desirable Qualifications. Preferred applicants:
- Have SBCCI/ICC building inspector certification, State of Florida building inspector license and/or AHERA certification for Asbestos Project Management Supervision or Asbestos Abatement inspector, or FACE Certifications.
- Are able to prepare evidence and other materials for Condemnation Appeal Hearings and provide testimony as required.
- Have knowledge of legal concepts involved in real estate, property rights and proper notice.
- Are able to make visual observations with attention to detail and to record same through both photographic methods and written documentation.
- Are able to prepare and maintain accurate records, reports and case files.
