What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Worker II (Construction) position at City of St. Petersburg?
This is semi-skilled manual work requiring the application of skills and knowledge above the basic laboring level. Work is characterized by advanced manual tasks to include the operation of light trucks and less complex automotive type equipment, the use of specialized machines, such as hand and power tools, and the use of construction equipment. An employee in this class may also act as lead worker for intermittent periods.
Salary: $17.04 - $22.92 Hourly

To Qualify
Minimum Qualifications. Applicants must:
- Possess and maintain a valid Driver License.
- Have one year of construction or grounds maintenance experience using small tools and construction equipment, including some previous experience with concrete related construction, preferably with forming and finishing, block, brick, and masonry work.
- Be able to understand and effectively carry out oral and written instructions.
- Acknowledge this position is designated as Emergency Critical (EC) and if hired into the position, you must be immediately available to the department before, during, and after a declared emergency and/or disaster.
Desirable Qualifications. Preferred applicants:
- Possess a valid high school diploma or GED equivalency.
- Possess and are willing to maintain a valid State of Florida Class "A" Commercial Driver License (CDL).
- Have some basic supervisory experience.
- Have some computer knowledge.
RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT
The successful candidate must be either a resident of the City of St. Petersburg as of his or her date of employment or establish primary residency within the city limits of St. Petersburg within six months of completing the probationary period. Furthermore, as long as the successful candidate is employed in this classification, he or she must reside within the city limits of St. Petersburg. This requirement is not applicable to current City employees who were hired before October 20, 1997.
