What are the responsibilities and job description for the Server Analyst I or II position at City of St. Petersburg?
This is professional, technical, operational, and analytical work involving the installation, operation, design and ongoing support of multiple City server systems and specialized application servers, including the City’s Internet and Intranet systems. Work involves participation in daily operation and support of the City’s central file servers, database servers, various application servers, and data storage systems; resolution of server and network access problems; and troubleshooting issues with the City servers, including support of Microsoft Windows Servers. Work includes developing PowerShell scripts, managing Office 365 product suite, Exchange email, Active Directory and Group Policy, modifying file servers, and analyzing server related hardware and software requirements; performing installation of operating system software, including upgrades and software fixes; and optimizing systems performance and integrating departmental LAN into the City’s enterprise network operations. Responsibilities include supporting, including hardware and software upgrades, and troubleshooting the City’s VMware infrastructure; providing support for Internet access; assisting with installations and configurations of server software and new application servers; reviewing server logs and auditing data; and supporting the City’s storage area network systems. An employee in this class requires a thorough knowledge of departmental programs, procedures, and policies; requires the exercise of considerable independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative in completing assigned tasks; and will be required to provide after-hours support and weekend maintenance, as needed. A candidate who has demonstrated more advanced skills and abilities, may be considered for hire at the more advanced Server Analyst level.
Salary: $63,636 - $113,056**

**The starting salary and selection into a Server Analyst, at level I or II will depend upon qualifications and experience.
To Qualify
Minimum Qualifications. Applicants must:
- Have completed two years of college level coursework in computer science, computer programming, network management or a related field supplemented by formal training at a recognized technical or vendor sponsored training school.
- Possess and maintain a valid Driver License.
- Have two years of practical experience in a technical environment supporting desktops, servers and/or system backups.
- Be able to work under stressful conditions and persevere on long work projects and complicated problem resolutions.
- Be able to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
- Be able to work flexible hours, including occasional weekends for upgrades and support services as required.
- Be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, outside agencies and vendors.
- Be able to organize and integrate information from a variety of sources.
- Meet Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) background requirements for accessing Police Department buildings, servers, and systems. Background checks could include a Personal History Questionnaire review with a Background Investigator, Polygraph Examination, and extensive background investigation.
- Acknowledge this position is designated as Emergency Critical (EC) and if hired into the position, you must be immediately available to the department before, during, and after a declared emergency and/or disaster.
Desirable Qualifications. Preferred applicants:
- Have completed four years of college level coursework in computer science, computer programming, network management or a related field supplemented by formal training at a recognized technical or vendor sponsored training school.
- Have strong experience with Microsoft Intune Administration.
- Have four or more years of experience in server support management, including hands on experience with Windows Server networks, Fibre Channel technologies, the Internet, personal computers, network hardware and software, fiber optic systems and communication interface devices.
- Have strong experience with PowerShell and scripting.
- Have strong experience with Office 365 Suite Administration.
- Have strong experience Microsoft SQL Server Administration.
- Have experience with VMware/Hyper-V virtual infrastructure support and management.
- Have experience with server equipment, storage equipment, personal computers, file servers, security, server management tools or automated deployment tools.
- Are able to research, schedule and install software upgrades to servers and desktops.
- Are able to coordinate system hardware and software vendors to develop solutions to user related access and application problems.
