What are the responsibilities and job description for the Tree Trimmer II position at City of St. Petersburg?
This is semi-skilled manual work involving the pruning, felling and removal of trees on City-owned property and rights-of-way in difficult or hazardous work situations where a comprehensive knowledge of tree removal techniques is required. Work may occasionally include limited lead supervisory responsibilities of a one- or two-man crew engaged in tree felling and trimming activities at a work site. Work includes work site planning, utilization of proper safeguards, and the proper operation and care of assigned equipment.
Salary: $19.76 - $28.57 Hourly

To Qualify
Minimum Qualifications. Applicants must:
- Have a valid high school diploma or GED equivalency.
- Possess and maintain a valid State of Florida Class "B" Commercial Driver License with “N” endorsement.
- Have at least one (1) year of experience in tree trimming work with the use of associated tools and equipment - or - six (6) months of experience working as a City of St. Petersburg Tree Trimmer I.
- Be able to understand and carry out oral and written instructions and work orders.
- Acknowledge this position is designated as Emergency Critical (EC) and if hired into the position, you must be immediately available to the department before, during, and after a declared emergency and/or disaster.
Desirable Qualifications. Preferred applicants:
- Possess an Arborist Certification from the International Society of Arboriculture.
- Have the ability to climb and perform manual work in high and hazardous locations, sometimes in precarious positions and under adverse weather conditions.
- Have the ability to manipulate, lift or move heavy equipment and objects.
- Have the ability to operate various trucks, winches, front end loaders, woodchippers, power chain saws and other tree removal equipment.
- Have the ability to walk long hours alone, both indoors and out, under varying work and climatic conditions.
