If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for Sedentary Work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for Light Work.

- Review all offense and incident reports daily,
- Conduct interviews of persons involved in crimes and incidents,
- Obtain written statements from persons involved in crimes and incidents,
- Process crime scenes for evidence,
- Conduct interviews and obtains statements from juveniles,
- Prepare preliminary and follow-up investigation reports,
- Conduct follow-up investigations,
- Coordinate investigative activities with patrol division and other agencies,
- Conduct investigative surveillance,
- Collect and submit evidence for analysis,
- Present cases to district attorney in-take divisions,
- Prepare affidavits for search/arrest warrants,
- Field test substances suspected of being illegal drugs,
- Present specialized court testimony,
- Maintain juvenile records in accordance with policies and statutes,
- Maintain assigned vehicles and equipment,
- Research computerized records, and
- Prepare periodic reports as directed by division Lieutenant
- Contributes to the overall success of Department by performing other duties as assigned
- Subject to 24 hour recall: The City reserves the right to require an employee in this position to work overtime including during emergency situations (defined as any natural or man-made disaster that may or may not necessitate the relocation of City personnel or citizens). In the event of an emergency and/or a required evacuation, the incumbent may be required to remain at work to provide needed services or perform essential duties for the benefit of the general public including services or duties different from those performed in the normal course and scope of the position.
- Must possess all the abilities and perform all essential functions as outlined in the job description for Police Officer. In addition, must possess above average oral and written communications skills.
- Good working knowledge of computer programs and Microsoft applications.
- Licensed as a Texas Peace Officer (Intermediate License)
- Valid Texas Driver's License
- High School Diploma or GED, and three years of sworn police experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job
- Above average oral and written communications skills and strong mathematical skills
