What are the responsibilities and job description for the OPERATOR IN TRAINING - WPCA position at City of Stamford?
SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Under the general supervision of the Water Pollution Control Administration or assignee, performs skilled work in the operation and maintenance of equipment and facilities of the Water Pollution Control Authority; works on a rotating schedule, which includes evenings, nights, and weekends. Performs related work as directed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Graduation from as accredited high school or trade school.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: At time of appointment, possession of a valid Driver’s License in good standing.
CAREER PROGRESSION: Employees will work in the classification for nine (9) months and upon successful completion of nine (9) months of employment, including the successful acquisition of a valid Commercial Driver’s License, promotion without examination will be made to the classification of Plant Operator I.
SCOPE OF EXAMINATION: There will be an examination on a date to be determined, which will be weighted at 100% and will test for mechanical aptitude. Notice of examination will be sent via email only.
