PLANNER II (Full-Time)Planning Department Salary Range: $27.53 - $45.42 Hourly / $57,262.40 - $94,473.60 AnnuallyFLSA Position Class: Non-ExemptWork Schedule: Mon-Fri 8am-5pm (with occasional night meetings)Closing Date: Open Until Filled Job OverviewResponsible for preparing and presenting technical data and reports for various boards; responsible for implementation/enforcement of land use regulations, plans, and policies; serves as administrative liaison to assigned boards and committees.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
NOTE: Employee may be required to respond to a disaster, either natural or man-made, to serve the citizens of Statesville. Service to the citizens during a disaster may result in the assignment of other duties, which will take precedence over duties described in this job description. This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive. Employees may perform other related duties as needed to meet the needs of the organization. Assists in the administration of Unified Development Code, subdivision regulations, and other development regulations and policies including policy recommendations and interpretations.Conveys objectives and requirements of the department to the private sector.Research planning, development, and land use issues, including long range planning issues.Plans, coordinates, and administers the activities and functions of the Technical Review Committee and Board of Adjustment, including file and records maintenance.Implements, coordinates, and reviews the application of land regulatory ordinances and policies. Conducts and completes site plan reviews and subdivision plan reviews, then makes recommendations to Technical Review Committee based on the findings.Conducts and completes variance and appeal applications and makes recommendations to the Board of Adjustment.Records minutes for various boards and committees. Reviews and approves minor subdivisions.Regularly schedules site visits to assure project conformity with code requirements.Investigates complaints for project compliance. Issues permits and serves as backup for the Planner I/Permitting positions.Assist with rezonings and annexations when necessary.Performs other duties as assigned.
