The City of Sterling Heights is currently seeking a Full Time Mechanic within the Department of Public Works!

Minimum Requirements
- Five (5) years full-time mechanic work experience, including the repair and overhauling of engines, drive trains, suspensions, steering and front ends, and/or heavy diesel equipment.
- Commerical Driver's License with Air Brakes endorsement is required by date of appointment.
- High school graduate or GED equivalent.
- Certificates Required: State of Michigan Heavy-Duty Truck Certifications in the following areas: Gas Engine Repair, Diesel Engine Repair, Drive Train, Brakes & Braking System, Suspension & Steering Systems, Electrical Systems. State of Michigan Automobile and Light Truck Certifications in the following areas: Manual Transmission and Axles, Front End Suspension & Steering Systems, Brakes and Braking Systems, Electrical Systems, Heating & Air Conditioning, Engine Repair, and Engine Tune-Up. **Candidates who may not possess all required certifications will still be considered.
- Experience in repairing Fire trucks and/or ambulances, highly desirable.
- Welding and fabrication experience, highly desirable.
